The AgBioData Champions Program
Advancing FAIR data management in agricultural research
The AgBioData Champions program is intended to support individuals who are current members of active working groups (WGs) and are taking on significant work on behalf of the group. Participants will gain and share valuable experience in areas such as scientific writing, project management, and scientific collaboration while advancing the working group's goals.
Champions will receive a $2,000 stipend for one year to advance the goals of specific AgBioData WGs. Applications are evaluated based on their alignment with AgBioData's mission (https://www.agbiodata.org/projects/nsf-rcn) and the potential benefits to the individual (i.e., advancing career goals, supporting participation.) Examples of activities include taking on a leadership role(s) in a working group as chair or co-chair or leading a manuscript preparation, specific tasks/small projects related to the WG goals (e.g., curation of sample data sets.)
The AgBioData consortium will offer up to 12 championship awards each year. Throughout their year-long commitment, champions will meet quarterly with members of the AgBioData steering committee or program coordinator to receive feedback, discuss progress, and share ideas. At the end of the year, each champion will report on their work and contributions in a blog post published on the AgBioData website, highlighting their achievements and demonstrating the collaborative nature of our consortium.
