We will be at PAG 33! Join us for our workshop on Sunday, Jan. 11 (see details below) and at our booth (#223). Please come to hear about our work and recent progress and meet our genomic, genetic, and breeding (GGB) resources.

Workshop description:

Title: "The AgBioData Consortium: Challenges and Recommendations for FAIR Genetic, Genomic and Breeding Data"

Location: Palm 1-2
Date: Sunday, Jan 11, 4:00-6:10 PM
Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes

About

AgBioData (https://www.agbiodata.org) is a consortium of agricultural biological databases dedicated to advancing standards and best practices for acquiring, displaying, and reusing genomic, genetic, and breeding (GGB) data. Supported by a National Science Foundation Research Coordination Network grant, the consortium addresses critical challenges in agricultural GGB data management by developing community-driven recommendations, creating educational resources, and informing policy and decision-makers about the growing importance of scientific data curation. In the first half of this bipartite session, we will present outcomes from six AgBioData working groups: FAIR Scientific Literature; Standards for Genetic Variation; Education; Sustainability of GGB Databases; Phenotypic Data Standardization and Management; and Single-Cell RNA-Seq Biocuration. These groups will highlight new tools, methods, and resources designed to enhance the FAIRness of genomic, genetic, and breeding data. The second half of the session will feature roundtable discussions focused on four forward-looking topics: sustainability of agricultural data resources, contingency planning for database continuity, applications of artificial intelligence in data curation and analysis, and the evolving role of data curation in scholarly publishing. We invite the broader PAG community, including database providers, publishers, researchers, and data users, to learn about AgBioData’s recent accomplishments, contribute feedback, and participate in round-table discussions on advancing data standardization, stewardship, and FAIR principles in agricultural research.
